1. 7.8 Magnitude Earthquake in Nepal
This morning in Nepal had been struck by a horrible earthquake that killed more than 1,800 people. Countries including, India, the US, and Israel are giving aid financially and by sending search teams. Nepal also called China to help them out. This malicious event came out of no where and will cause a lot of grief. The earthquake is said to have been one of the biggest ones Nepal has had since 1934 and the capital is a mess right now. Some survivors don't have food, water, or electricity and the government isn't helping out that much.

This natural disaster really raises the question on foreign involvement and what we should use it for. I think that in cases of natural disaster, it is definitely a great idea for other countries to help by aiding the victim country. The US sent in rescue teams and India sent in airplanes to drop down food and other necessaries. I think things like this that happen have benefit and that would be that we are actually working together with other countries to help another. That's also how I think foreign involvement should be, we should help out other countries the best we can and strengthen our relationship with them. What are your thoughts on U.S./foreign involvement?

2.  Changing the Hearts of Poachers in Rwanda

In Rwanda, a young man named Edwin Sabuhoro infiltrated a group of gorilla poachers and tricked them to get them arrested. He then realized that these men, the poachers were only doing this to survive. Edwin thought of a way for these people to help the environment and survive instead of hurting it. He used all his savings and split them between the men, giving them seeds and tools for farming. Then he left, and came back after awhile. The ex-poachers were doing very well, they had enough crops to survive and also sold others crops on the market. Sabhoro has also helped make a tour in the same area as these farms to help keep the environment safe and eco-friendly, and also to help get money for the village.

I think this is truly one of the best articles I've read, helping the environment and wildlife has been something that is very important to me. The fact that Edwin Sabhoro stopped a group from doing something illegal and save wildlife, but also change these mens lives for the better is just amazing to hear. I feel as if this article is just a little heads up to the readers that they can do something to help the environment too. We live on this Earth with so many things and the way it is right now, we should probably be taking better care of the Earth, because we aren't the only things here. This article also shows, that there are alternate solutions for everything if you think hard enough. That's what this article taught me.
